GENERAL TRAINING INFORMATION

Professional training: MBCT & meditation

BECOMING AN MBSR OR MBCT TRAINER …

The professional use of MBCT or MBSR is not being taught in 8 weeks, but requires a stable practice of mindfulness meditation of at least 1 to 2 years.
The best way to learn how to facilitate MBCT or MBSR is to follow a heterogeneous group (therapists and patients together) as a participant. In that way, you can experience directly what it is like to work with a patient population.

Candidate trainers first learn how to apply the process specifically on themselves. They learn how to deal with their own thoughts, emotions, opinions and physical sensations according to the principles of mindfulness training and becoming aware. This personal experience is an essential part of being able to assist participants in their own unique process from a mindfulness perspective.
There is an intense meditation training, about 10 days and then a MBCT training from the perspective of a trainer. This comprises a discussion of the structure, contents and specific processes that arise in participants during the training. This is completed by a discussion session of the previous and the new lesson lesson and inquiry for homework.
This is followed by 7 seperate full days for professionals only, homeassignements between each day. This is completed by a personal supervision .

Detailled information in Dutch.

Further deepening of the personal “mindfulness” experience is possible on full days: the mindfulness day of practice, the days focussing on “dealing with emotional pain, fear and anger” and the day on “self acceptance and appreciation”. Furthermore, it is recommended to do “vipassana” retreats (mindfulness) of 7 to 10 days. The 3 th year 'Mindfulness & psychotherapy' is also recommended.
